Property Reassessment Firms Charging for Service County Does for Free

Homeowners who think their property has declined in value and did not receive notice of a review can file an appeal with an easy one-page form.
With the deadline for filing an assessment appeal for this year's property tax bill looming, and you think the value of your property has declined since last year, you may think you should seek outside help.
But that's not necessary, the Los Angeles County Assessor's office says. The assessor's Decline-in-Value form is easy and can be submitted for free, and the office is warning against aggressive companies that are sending letters asking you to pay them to file what is only a one-page form.
Thank you
I am humbled and honored by the overwhelming support I received on Tuesday night.
Thank you to all those who gave their time, talent, and vote to make this victory possible. I will work every day to be worthy of the faith you put in me.
I hope to see you all in early December at my swearing in ceremony when the real work of serving the taxpayers of Los Angeles begins.

API Leaders Endorse John Noguez
Los Angeles (10/22/2010) — John Noguez, a Deputy Assessor for more than 20 years, is seeking the top spot in a runoff election on Nov. 2. On Oct. 22, U.S. Representative Judy Chu and many other API elected officials endorsed Noguez and called for API voters’ support.
Judy Chu said that Los Angeles County Deputy Assessor Noguez grew up in Huntington Park and was the Mayor of the city. Therefore, he must understand the needs of Asian Americans very well. At the same time, he would be a good fit for the position because of his 25 years working experience in the Assessor’s Office. Judy Chu also pointed out that State Assembly members Mike Eng and Ted Lieu support Noguez as well.
Noguez stated that he feels confident to win the election because he built a campaign two years ago and had received the most endorsements, including four of the five members of the Board of Supervisors and over 200 other elected officials.
Nogues said that if he won the election he would work hard for people’s rights and balance the relationship between tax collection and taxpayers.
